The University of Mysore has imposed limitations on female students’ movement on campus after 6.30 p.m. from August 27 in an unprecedented attempt to ensure the “protection of lady students.” This comes only days after an MBA student in Mysuru was allegedly gang-raped. Male students are not subject to any limitations.

Female students on campus are also prohibited from entering Kukkarahalli Lake premises after 6.30 p.m., according to the Registrar’s directive. Between the hours of 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., security officers should patrol the lake area.

Females are also not permitted to sit alone after 6.30 p.m. on the Mansa Gangothri premises. Every day between 6 and 9 p.m., security personnel will be deployed for patrolling.
