On Wednesday, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition partners announced a walkout throughout Maharashtra on October 11 to protest the killings in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. Jayant Patil, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party, made the announcement.
The Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party, and Congress – all members of the MVA coalition – made their decision a day after Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut met with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for a brief discussion on the incident.
Following his discussion with Rahul Gandhi, Raut stated that the country requires a united opposition. Raul said: “I met Rahul Gandhi. I have also held discussions with him on the Lakhimpur incident. A united opposition is very important for the country and to save democracy.”
