On Thursday, Mayor Kishori Pednekar stated the financial hub had no waterways to bury the deceased. This comments may be understood as a dig in Uttar Pradesh, a state controlled by the BJP. Recently, hundreds of bodies floated on the Ganga River or buried in sand along its shores were found.
On 10 May, 71 bodies were laundered by the side of the river, near the boundary of the State, in Bihar’s hamlet of Chausa, which first revealed the horrors of Uttar Pradesh. Those who live close to the washed bodies worry that they are the victims of Covid-19.
The Mayor Kishori Pednekar said: “There are three areas in Mumbai where all fatalities of Covid happened that can not be concealed.”
