International medical students who have not completed their internships owing to exceptional situations beyond their power, such as Covid and the continuing Ukraine war, can complete them in India after passing a screening exam, according to India’s medical regulating agency. The National Medical Commission (NMC) stated in a bulletin that due to the “agony and stress” these students encounter, their forms may be handled by state health councils if the applicants have passed the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination prior to trying to apply for internship closure in India.
Thousands of Indian med students in Ukraine would profit from the decision, which came after Russia began a massive invasion of the ex-Soviet republic, forcing them to quit their education and relocate to India.
