For the first time in almost seven months, a steep decline in Covid-19 infections in Kerala has resulted in the sharpest drop in weekly cases recorded in India since mid-June, with the country reporting less than 2 lakh cases in the seven days.
In the week ending Sunday, September 27-October 3, India registered less than 1.56 lakh new Covid cases, a 22.2 percent decrease from the previous week’s total of over 2 lakh. The last time weekly cases fell by a greater proportion was on June 14-20, 15 weeks ago, when they fell by 29.5 percent.
