Nashik Chess player, Vidit Gujrathi, rank 3, has been finally qualified for the 2021 FIDE Chess World Cup. The World Cup is going to held on 10 July this year, in Sochi, Russia. Grandmaster Gujrathi is therefore the fourth Indian to qualify for a World Cup on Thursday, according to a press statement.
The Nashiker is joined by the Indian men who have qualified for the World Cup by grandmasters P Harikrishna, Aravindh Chidambaram, and P Iniyan. In the meanwhile, the women’s event at the WC was qualified by Koneru Humpy, D Harika, Bhakti Kulkarni, R Vaishali, and Padmini Rout.
This will be the 3rd World Cup event for Gujrathi, which was previously held in 2017 and 2019. The Indian told the tournament that he was sure he would play a fantastic display.
