Rakesh Tikait, who has emerged as the main face of the farmers’ movement, has said that all the cases filed against the farmers should be withdrawn first, only then the talks will be held with the government. The officers and soldiers of Delhi Police are shocked by this insistence of Tikait. Around four hundred police personnel were hurt in the furore on Republic Day. Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the hospital to know about his movements.Vedbhushan, president and former ACP of Delhi Police Federation, says that Rakesh Tikait is adamant on his stubbornness, but the cases filed against those farmers who attacked the Delhi Police may be ashamed of our jawans. Such a move will break the spirits of the police. The Delhi Police had played its life on 26 January to protect the national capital.Let us tell you that during 2019, when there was an incident of assault between Delhi Police and lawyers in Tis Hazari court, Delhi Police personnel sat on a dharna outside their headquarters to demand action against the accused. This was the first such incident in the history of Delhi Police, when police personnel had to sit on a dharna to take action against the accused.

The soldiers sitting on the road outside the Delhi Police headquarters shouted slogans against the then Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik. After that a special team of Delhi Police was engaged to investigate the case. Also, the Delhi High Court had set up a Judicial Inquiry Commission to investigate the case. Till now nothing has been shown like taking action in this case.

According to retired ACP Vedbhushan, 44 FIRs have been lodged against the accused under the furore that broke out in Delhi on Republic Day during the Kisan agitation. Around 123 accused are in police custody. A reward has also been placed on the arrest of many other accused. Raising the question, Vedbhushan said, “When the Red Fort was being disturbed, police personnel were being attacked, then Rakesh Tikait had said that these men are not farmers.” He also condemned the Red Fort incident.Even other peasant leaders had lost their control over this incident. All the peasant leaders were saying the same thing that this incident on the Red Fort is condemnable. If there is a farmer in this, then he is separated from this movement. Now what has happened that Rakesh Tikait changed from his point. They are saying that talks with the government will only take place until the arrested farmers are released.

Be it the Central Government, the Delhi Government or the court, the FIR should not be returned in such cases. According to Vedbhushan, however, the FIR can only be quashed through the court. The court investigates all types of facts. Delhi government should show strictness in this matter. Here no political party should see that it has to fight elections in such and such a state, so take back the cases registered on the farmers. If this happens, the enthusiasm of Delhi Police will break. That Delhi Police, which protects the common man from the President, will be ashamed in its eyes.

The top officers of Delhi Police are requested to encourage their subordinates to take strong action against the accused in this case. Delhi Police should not act under the pressure of any person or organization and take action against the accused according to the law
