Heavy rains drenched Mumbai and its surroundings late last night and early this morning, causing flooded roads and the halting of local trains. According to the BMC, the city’s municipal government, at least 20 people have perished in rain-related accidents in Mumbai’s Chembur and Vikhroli districts.
Officials reported 156.94 mm of rain in Mumbai between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., with the east end receiving 143.14 mm and the western suburbs receiving 125.37 mm, correspondingly.
Waterlogging was recorded in a number of locations, notably Chunabhatti, Sion, Dadar, Gandhi Market, Chembur, and Kurla LBS Road. Residents were observed in some of these low-lying regions removing rainwater that had infiltrated their homes as a result of the rainfall.
