Election Commission verdict: Voting time will be extended in upcoming assembly elections

Assembly elections are due in several states including Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala in the year 2021 amid the corona epidemic. In view of this election, some parties have recommended to the Election Commission that the voting hours be extended. The Election Commission has decided to extend the election time by one hour, following the recommendation of all parties.At the same time, the Election Commission also gave important information about the result of voting. Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora told all political parties that when voting takes place in more than one state, counting of votes cannot be done after a day or two.He said that if one state results, then it affects the turnout of other states. He said that according to the population, the voting time frame is different in every state, so we will do the counting in the end. Sunil Arora said that the term of the Legislative Assembly in Tamil Nadu is going to end on 24 May 2021. Elections are to be held for 234 assembly constituencies in the state. Of these, 188 seats for general category, 44 for SC, 02 seats for ST. He said that elections will be held under the guidance of Corona. Giving another big information, he said that Kanyakumari Lok Sabha elections will be held simultaneously in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections.
