According to a statistical analysis conducted by scientists at the city’s International Institute for Population Studies (IIPS), the COVID-19 epidemic, which has impacted individuals all over the world, has caused an almost two-year decline in life expectancy in India.
The study, which highlights the decrease in life expectancy at birth in both men and women as a result of the pandemic, was recently published in the journal ‘BMC Public Health.’ The report was written by Suryakant Yadav, an IIPS professor.
The report said: “The life expectancy at birth in 2019 was 69.5 years for men and 72 years for women, which came down to 67.5 years and 69.8 years, respectively, in 2020.”
