At least four people lost their lives and several others sustained injuries when a passenger train collided with a goods train near Bilaspur station in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday afternoon. The tragic incident occurred around 4 pm when the MEMU passenger train was en route to Bilaspur from Gevra in Korba district.Rescue Operations Underway

According to officials, the passenger train hit the goods train from behind while passing between Gatora and Bilaspur railway stations. The impact caused one of the coaches of the passenger train to mount onto a wagon of the goods train. Several passengers were trapped inside the damaged coach, prompting an immediate rescue response from railway and police teams.

Efforts to Save the Injured

Police reported that rescue operations are still ongoing to free passengers stuck under the wreckage. Many of the injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, though the exact number of casualties and injuries has not yet been confirmed.

Authorities Respond to the Incident

Railway officials stated that all available resources have been deployed at the site to manage the situation and provide necessary medical assistance. Emergency teams and local authorities are coordinating efforts to ensure the safety of survivors and restore normal operations.
