For the past several years, Cartoon Network and POGO have concentrated on producing local animation series, which have seen steady growth in popularity. Abhishek Dutta, South Asia Network Head for Cartoon Network and POGO said, “2020 and 2021 have both been beneficial to us. This summer, we introduced two local IPs for children. We are now launching ‘Ekans – Ek Se Badhkar Snake,’ India’s newest, indigenous tech-savvy superhero. During the epidemic in India, Cartoon Network and Pogo have been the only network channels in the kids’ category that have launched six new local series.”

Dutta further stated that there has been a continuous growth in watching of made-in-India programming due to the abundance of options available now. “Today, seven of the top ten programs in the category are created domestically. When you look at the top 20 programs in the category, you’ll see that 15 of them are produced locally. As a result, there is a noticeable hunger for local material among today’s children.”
