Hariyana | A 30-year-old man accused of stalking and shooting a 17-year-old JEE aspirant in broad daylight in Faridabad has been arrested by the police.

Suspect Confesses During Interrogation
The accused, identified as Jitendra also known as Jatin Mangla, admitted during questioning that he fired at the girl in anger after she declined to speak with him. The incident took place in Shyam Colony on Monday evening when the victim, Kanishka, a Class 12 student, was returning from a library.
Incident Captured on CCTV
CCTV footage shows the accused waiting in the street before approaching the girl and shooting her at close range. One bullet hit her shoulder while another grazed her abdomen. She is currently stable and undergoing treatment in a hospital.
Police Investigation and Arrest
An FIR was filed at the City Ballabgarh police station. The Crime Branch team from Sector 65 arrested Mangla, a resident of Sarmathla village near Sohna in Gurugram. During interrogation, he revealed that he worked in the accounting department of Rawal Institute College in Jakhopur, Faridabad. He reportedly met the victim in 2024 and began harassing her despite her objections.
Timeline of the Attack
According to police, on November 3 the accused followed the student and demanded to speak with her. When she refused, he shot her and fled the scene on a motorcycle. The victim, a resident of Bhagat Singh Colony, is a Class 12 science student preparing for the JEE exams and regularly visited a library in Shyam Colony for her studies. On the day of the attack, she was near the library with a friend when the shooting occurred.
