Faridabad | Police in Haryana’s Faridabad have started an intense search for a young man accused of firing at a 17-year-old girl, injuring her in the shoulder and abdomen. The incident took place in Shyam Colony on Monday evening as the girl was returning home from a library.

Victim and Accused Identified

The injured student, Kanishka, is a Class 12 science student from Bhagat Singh Colony who is preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination. The suspect has been identified as 20-year-old Jatin Mangla, a resident of Sarmathla village near Sohna in Gurugram district. According to officials, Kanishka is currently under treatment at a hospital in Sector 8 and her condition is stable.

CCTV Footage Reveals the Attack

Security footage from the area shows the suspect waiting for Kanishka before shooting at her from close range. One bullet struck her shoulder while the other grazed her abdomen. The police have formed four teams to track down the accused and bring him into custody.

Ongoing Harassment Allegations

Investigations revealed that Mangla had been following and harassing Kanishka for several months. Her family mentioned that just two days before the shooting, Mangla had visited them to apologise for his behaviour. Both the victim and the accused were members of the same library, where they studied for their exams.

Library Connection and Background

According to the library management, Kanishka had been a member for a year, while Mangla joined around six months ago. Mangla was employed as an accountant at a nearby private college. The police stated that within two weeks of his joining, both memberships were cancelled due to inappropriate behaviour. Kanishka later re-enrolled, but Mangla was not allowed back. Despite this, he continued to follow her.Police Investigation Underway

Inspector Shamsher Singh from Ballabhgarh City Police Station confirmed that multiple police and crime branch teams are conducting raids to arrest the suspect. Authorities have assured that every possible effort is being made to ensure justice for the victim.
