A 25 year old married woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by two men inside a moving van in Faridabad and later pushed onto the road, causing serious head injuries, according to police officials. The accused have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.
The incident reportedly took place late on Monday night when the woman was waiting for transport. The two men offered her a lift, but instead of dropping her at her destination, they allegedly drove towards Gurugram and assaulted her inside the vehicle.
Police stated that the woman was driven around in the van for several hours and was thrown out of the moving vehicle near Raja Chowk at around 3 am. The speed of the van was reportedly over 90 kilometres per hour at the time of the incident.
The victim sustained severe injuries to her face and head and required more than twelve stitches. Her condition remains critical, and she is not yet in a position to give a formal statement to the police.
As per the complaint filed by the woman’s sister, the victim had been staying at her parental home due to marital issues. She had visited a friend in Sector 23 on Monday evening and, while returning late at night, accepted a lift from the accused.
The woman managed to contact her sister after the incident, who rushed to the spot and took her to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital. Doctors advised shifting her to Delhi due to the seriousness of her injuries, but the family later admitted her to a private hospital in Faridabad.
The accused are said to be natives of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh and were residing in Faridabad. Police confirmed that they were not known to the victim. The vehicle used in the crime has been seized, and the accused have reportedly confessed.
Faridabad police spokesperson Yashpal Yadav said the accused will be produced before the court, and their identities will be disclosed only after a test identification parade is conducted.
