India set a weekly record for Covid-19 cases in mid-March to 5 months, with less than 2.6 rac infections reported August 9-15, down 6.7% from the previous week Did.
Despite the fall, weekly cases in the country have remained between Rs 25,000 and Rs 30,000 for the past six weeks. During this period, there was a surge in infections in parts of the country, a large surge in Kerala, and an increase or decrease in cases in the northeast. Minor spikes have been reported in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and more recently in Himachal Pradesh.
Pandemics also continue stubbornly in the sluggish Maharashtra state. Moreover, Andhra Pradesh and Orissa continue to report more than 1,000 daily cases.
India recorded 2,55,819 fresh cases in the week ending Sunday, the lowest number of weeks since 1,55,912 infections were reported from March 8-14.
