As per state Health Department data, Maharashtra has recorded 1,421 instances of dengue fever and 510 cases of chikungunya as of mid-July, with Nashik, Nagpur, and Pune reporting the most cases so far. This year, Thane and Ahmednagar have recorded two dengue fatalities.
In the midst of an increase in instances of yet another mosquito-borne ailment, Zika virus, in Kerala, health authorities recently attended a video-conference meeting with district-level officers and gave instructions on preventative measures to be done.
However, Nagpur had recorded 190 instances of dengue fever as of July 15, and Nashik had recorded 144.
