With the recent hike in price, petrol prices have already crossed the three figure mark in many cities in the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Bhopal was the first city to touch the hundred mark.
In the national capital, Delhi petrol costs Rs. 92.85 and diesel Rs. 83.51. While in the Financial Capital, Mumbai petrol almost reaches the century mark with Rs. 99.14 while diesel is at Rs. 90.71, according to the data available on The Indian Oil Corporation’s official website.
Petrol and diesel prices are generally revised on a daily basis. So far this month, the price hike in petrol and diesel has taken place over 10 times in 18 days.
In India, fuel price differs from state to state depending on the Local Taxation and Freight charges. The central Government also charges an excise duty on the auto fuels. The central and state Governments make upto 60% of the retail selling price for petrol. Whereas for Diesel, it is 54%.
