At least seven climbers lost their lives after a massive avalanche struck the base camp of Yalung Ri Peak in Nepal’s Dolakha district. Among those killed were five foreign mountaineers and two Nepali citizens.

According to police sources, the victims include three climbers from the United States, one from Canada, one from Italy, and two from Nepal. Four others sustained injuries, while another four remain unaccounted for after the disaster at the base camp located in the Rolwaling Valley beneath the 5630-meter-high Yalung Ri Peak.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Gyan Kumar Mahato stated that poor weather conditions prevented helicopter operations on the day of the incident. Authorities plan to resume search and rescue efforts once the weather clears to locate those still missing.
