This world body finally bowed to the controversy over the wrong map of India on the World Health Organization website. India raised this issue strongly with the WHO. WHO then issued a disclaimer on the portal for clarification.Minister of State for External Affairs V Muralitharan gave this information in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha. He was asked if the map of India on the WHO website showed the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh in a different color. In response, Muralitharan said that the issue of misrepresentation of the map of India was raised with high firmness on its website before the WHO.Following India’s strict objections, this world body informed India’s permanent mission in Geneva that they had placed a disclaimer on their portal. The Minister of State for External Affairs said that his position on the part of the Government of India regarding the correct depiction of its borders was clearly reiterated. He stated that the disclaimer stated that the presentation of the material was not an expression of any opinion from the WHO regarding the legal status of any country, region or its authority. In spite of this Muralitharan said that the position of the Government of India has been reiterated in unambiguous terms regarding properly depicting the border.
