There is a tradition of worshiping Lord Surya in Kartik month. In Shukla Paksha, the Mahaparava of Chhath (Chhath Puja 2020) is celebrated on Shashthi Tithi. This worship started mainly in Bihar and Jharkhand which has now spread throughout the country. In Kartik month, the Sun is in its low zodiac sign. Therefore, special worship of Sun God is done, so that health problems are not disturbed. Shashthi Tithi is related to the age of children and Sun also deals with children in astrology. Therefore, by shashti worship of the Sun God, both the child’s attainment and his age are protected. This time Chhath festival will run from 18 November to 21 November.
What is the worship method of Chhath? Overall, this festival lasts for four days. It starts with Kartik Shukla Chaturthi and ends this fast on Saptami in Arun Vela. Kartik Shukla Chaturthi begins this fast with “bathe-eat”. From this day special attention is given to cleanliness. The second day is called “Lohanda-Kharna”. On this day, Kheer is consumed by fasting throughout the day. Kheer is made of sugarcane juice.
On the third day, after fasting throughout the day, the sun is offered to the sun while sinking. Arghya is given with milk and water. On the fourth day, the final arghya is offered to the rising sun. After this, the fast is concluded by eating raw milk and prasad.
What are the benefits of Chhath Puja or fast? Those people who are not having children or end up being children again and again, such people get great benefit from this fast. This fast is beneficial even if there is suffering from children. It is auspicious to keep this fast even if there is a serious problem of leprosy or digestive system. People who have bad sunlight in their horoscope or have problems from the state side should also keep this fast.
