Voting ends in bypolls across 13 states, 1 UT; high turnout recorded

On Saturday, voters in 13 states and the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli voted in bypolls for three Lok Sabha seats and 29 assembly seats. Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi, and Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa were the three Lok Sabha seats where by-polls were held. In Nagaland’s Shamator-Chessore assembly constituency, voting was also scheduled, however, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) candidate was elected unopposed on October 13.

 

According to data given by the Election Commission of India, Khandwa had a 59.02 percent voter turnout until 5 p.m. among Lok Sabha seats (ECI). The Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh had 47.17 percent voter turnout till 4 p.m., while the Dadra and Nagar Haveli Lok Sabha constituency had 67 percent voter turnout until 5 p.m.
