In numerous states, including Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh is on heightened alert following Delta Plus variant instances found. UP Chief Secretary, Yogi Adityanath has requested health officials to commence the genomic sequencing of RT-PCR passenger specimens from countries with Delta Plus variant cases reported by UP. The UP CM has also instructed authorities to gather and transmit samples of genome sequences from the UP districts bordering states with Delta Plus variant instances, reports PTI.
Director of PGI RK Dhiman has cautioned that people need to become vigilant, since the Delta Plus version expands and has negative consequences, the situation would escalate.
