The Ghaziabad police has uncovered a thief gang stealing in jewelery shops. The members of this gang used to steal in various parts of the country by airplane and used to sell the stolen goods to Meerut and Nepal. The gang leader is a woman. The police have currently arrested four accused, including gang leader. At the same time, with the identification of the remaining accused, the rage has been intensified.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Dr. Eraj Raja and Superintendent of Police (2nd) Gyanendra Kumar Singh revealed the misdeeds of this gang in a joint press conference. SP Dehat told that the information of the gang came from the theft on 9 February in Modinagar and on 26 February in the shops of jewelery traders located in Sahibabad. When the police watched the CCTVs of both the shops, it was found that the same gang had carried out both the incidents. They have been identified as Pratiksha, a resident of Pasaunda, Zahid from Sidhrawali Baghpat, Sameer from Khatauli Muzaffarnagar and a woman from Muzaffar Nagar. The woman is the sister-in-law of Sameer and currently residing at Lisadi Gate Meerut. More than a dozen members, including the husband of the woman involved in this gang, are absconding.

According to the information, at the behest of the head of the gang, her husband Tanveer used to go to big cities by airplane. After stealing, the accused used to hide somewhere in the vicinity. At the same time, the rest of the members of the gang used to go to their hideouts in different high speed trains. The accused said in interrogation that the stolen goods were sold to a large number of three or four jewelery traders of Meerut. Many times he also used to take goods to Nepal and sell it. After the sale of the goods, 25 per cent of whatever money was in hand was given to the rest of the gang members.
