Two members of Zubeen Garg’s music team — Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amritprava Mahanta — have been placed in judicial custody after completing a 14-day period under police interrogation related to the singer’s death in Singapore last month.
The pair appeared before the Kamrup Chief Judicial Magistrate on Friday and were subsequently transported in separate police vehicles. They are expected to be produced before the court again within two weeks.
Authorities have remained silent regarding their place of detention, especially after unrest broke out outside the Baksa District Jail earlier this week, where five other individuals connected to the same case were sent following similar court orders.
Goswami and Mahanta were initially taken into custody on October 3 by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) after days of questioning. With their police remand now concluded, all seven suspects arrested in the case since October 1 are currently under judicial custody.
Zubeen Garg tragically passed away while swimming in the sea in Singapore on September 19, prompting a detailed investigation by Indian authorities.
