Shashi Tharoor, the senior Congressman, has canceled several engagements in the United Kingdom that were part of the launch of his new book, in protest of Britain’s “offensive” policy of requiring fully vaccinated Indians to quarantine.
The Congressman responded to a tweet from aviation analyst Alex Macheras about the UK government’s decision to impose a 10-day home quarantine and require vaccination tests for vaccinated people from Africa, South America, and countries such as India, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Jordan, Thailand, and Russia.
Responding to the tweet, Tharoor said: “Because of this I have pulled out of a debate at the Cambridge Union and out of launch events for the UK edition of my book #TheBattleOfBelonging (published there as #TheStruggleForIndiasSoul). It is offensive to ask fully vaccinated Indians to quarantine. The Brits are reviewing!”
