Following negotiations between Prime Minister Imran Khan and Saudi Prince Mohammad bin Salman in Riyadh this week, it was announced on Wednesday that Saudi Arabia had agreed to provide $4.2 billion in aid to Pakistan’s cash-strapped economy.
Fawad Chaudhry, the Information Minister, announced the support on Twitter, barely two days after Khan returned from a three-day visit to the Gulf nation.
He said in a tweet: “Saudi Arabia’s announcement supports Pakistan with 3 billion US dollars as deposit in Pakistan central bank and also financing refined petroleum products with 1.2 billion US dollars during the year,”.
