Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has demanded a separate ministry for fisheries. Rahul, who had criticized Union Minister Giriraj Singh a few days back for his demand for fisheries, tweeted on Thursday that there should be a separate ministry for fisheries. The Congress leader wrote in his tweet – Fishermen need an independent and dedicated fisheries ministry and not a department within a ministry. Significantly, Rahul is currently on a state visit to Kerala and is spending time with fishermen there.To take a closer look at the life of the fishermen, on Wednesday, they took a dip in the sea with the fishermen. Earlier in the boat, he went to the sea on the Kollam coast of Kerala and when the fishermen laid a net for fishing, he also got into the water along with the rest of the fishermen. They also caught fish with fishermen. Rahul swam with fishermen for about 10 minutes before reaching the shore.It is worth mentioning that in his address to Puducherry this month, Rahul had mentioned while referring to the farmers movement and fishermen, ‘The government has passed three laws against the farmers who are said to be the backbone of the country.
