A bill to prevent forced conversions in Uttar Pradesh has been passed by a voice vote in the Uttar Pradesh Illegal Religion Bill 2021. The Yogi government had prepared this draft to stop incidents like conversion in the state. According to the bill, there is a provision for imprisonment of one year to 10 years in different categories for the forced conversion. Also a fine of up to five lakh rupees will have to be paid to the aggrieved party.On Wednesday, the Yogi government passed its most important bill in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Uttar Pradesh Illegal Religion Bill 2021 i.e. Anti Love Jihad Bill by voice vote. However, after passing this bill in the Legislative Council, it will be sent to the Governor for signature. After that it will take the form of law.The Anti Love Jihad Ordinance passed in the Assembly carries a sentence of up to 10 years and a fine of up to Rs 5 lakh. Conversion of religion in the name of marriage has been declared illegal. On the other hand, if a religious teacher converts, he will have to get approval from the DM. Also, anyone who converts will also have to take permission. If there is an organization to convert, then its recognition can be canceled. Action will be taken against him under the Indian Penal Code.
