Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi met Prime Minister Narendra Modi today and is anticipated to formally request that the center rescind its letter delaying paddy purchase in the state till October 1. This would be Mr. Channi’s first encounter with Prime Minister Modi after the senior Congress politician was recently sworn in as Punjab Chief Minister.
Mr. Channi is also expected to see senior Congress leaders on his visit to the capital, officials added, citing the party’s Punjab unit’s current turmoil.
