According to court records released Tuesday, a sexual assault case filed in New York accusing Prince Andrew by his longstanding complainant Virginia Giuffre was legally dropped after the discredited British royal made a monetary compensation. The sides settled the case in February for an unknown fee, saving Queen Elizabeth II’s second son the public embarrassment of a lawsuit.
Judge Lewis Kaplan authorized a “stipulation of dismissal” of the lawsuit submitted by both parties in federal district court in New York on Tuesday. The parties have agreed to submit a request for discharge “upon Ms Giuffre’s receipt of the settlement,” implying that the compensation had been paid, according to the deal made last month.
