An adviser to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amarjeet Sinha has resigned today. Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), has confirmed the news.

Sources said that Sinha is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Bihar cadre (1983 batch).  He was appointed as an adviser to PM Modi last year. Although, the reason behind his resignation has not been clear yet. This is the second key resignation this year from the country’s top office. Earlier,  PK Sinha principal secretary of Modi has resigned in March.

Sinha was appointed as an adviser to the PM, along with another key officer Bhaskar Khulbe. In a career spanning three decades, Sinha has held several important posts in the education and Panchayati raj ministries, apart from his area of expertise—rural development. He is known to have played a crucial role in schemes such as National Rural Health Mission and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. Sinha has also served as a trainer for future bureaucrats at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration.
