The railway ministry has increased the ticket prices of the platform amidst the worldwide Covid-19 epidemic. The ministry says this is a temporary decision taken to protect passengers and prevent over-crowding at stations. After this decision, the platform ticket, which was priced at Rs 10, has now become Rs 30. With this announcement, the Ministry stated that it is the responsibility of the Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) to control the congestion at the stations. It also said, “This is a temporary decision and has been taken by the Railway Administration in the interest of the passengers so that the congestion at the stations can be stopped.” The ministry said, “Due to more people coming to the station, the crowd gets crowded and the platform ticket fee is increased from time to time to prevent it. This right is the DRMs tax of the said station. ‘ Such decisions have been taken in view of the situation for many years. There is nothing new in this. Earlier, the railways had also increased the ticket prices of short distance trains so as to prevent unnecessary travel. Explain that the platform ticket facility was discontinued a year ago in view of the growing Corona infection. With this, only the traveling people could come to the station and the crowd was prevented from gathering. But now that everything is going back to normal again, this facility has also been restored but with precaution. Last year i.e. in 2020, the price was increased to Rs 50 from March 18 to 22 to prevent congestion before the lockdown. After this there was a decrease in the crowd on the platform, with fewer people who used to travel.
