Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi who had worked with Buddhadeb Dasgupta in Hindi dark comedy Anwar Ka Ajab Kissa recalls the National award-winning director and said “Buddha Da was remarkable. This is what one can say about him. When I got into acting, I used to hear about him that there is this person who was once a professor and had left that to become a writer and a director. I had seen some of his films and always aspired to work with him. And one day I got a call from a production person in Kolkata saying that Buddha Da wants to speak with you. I was elated, which would be an understatement.”

The multi-talented actor, filmmaker, poet Buddhadeb Dasgupta passed away yesterday at the age of 77. He is conceded for his films like Bagh Bahadur (1989), Charachar and Uttara (1989), Lal Darja(1997)  and Mondo Meyer Upakhyan (2002). His film Kaalpurush (2002) won the National Film Award for best feature film and later Dooratwa(1978) and Tahader Katha(1993) won the National Film Award for Best Feature Films in their respective years. He won National Award for his direction twice for his movie Uttara(2000) and Swapner Din(2005).

Pankaj has won the hearts of his fans several times through his performance in Sacred Games 2, Mirzapur and Mirzapur 2. He will soon be seen in Amit Rai’s upcoming directorial ‘Oh My God 2’
