July 1 is widely celebrated as Doctors day in india. Doctor’s day is celebrated on different dates across the world. It is celebrated as National Doctor’s Day by the Indian Medical Association (IMA).
The day was first observed in 1991 in honour of the former Bengal’s Chief Minister Dr.BC Roy to recognize his contribution to serve humanity.
The National Doctor’s Day is observed to pay heed towards the medical doctor’s role and responsibilities in serving lives. The day is supposed to recognise their functions and obligations.
The day is celebrated to acknowledge the important contributions of doctors and physicians, and thank them for their relentless service to humanity.
