Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the bridge on river Feni between India and Bangladesh via video conferencing at 12 noon on Tuesday. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, he will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several infrastructure projects in Tripura during the program. The bridge ‘Maitri Setu’ has been built over the Feni river flowing between the Indian border in Tripura state and Bangladesh. It is being told that the Friendship Bridge is a symbol of growing bilateral relations and friendly relations between India and Bangladesh. According to the information, it was completed by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited at a project cost of Rs 133 crore. The 1.9-km bridge connects Sabroom in India to Ramgarh in Bangladesh. PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for establishing an integrated check post in the Sabroom today. This will help in easing the movement of goods and passengers between the two countries, provide new market opportunities for products from the northeastern states and assist in seamless movement of passengers from India and Bangladesh. The project is being built by the Land Port Authority of India at an estimated cost of about Rs 232 crore. In addition, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the development of multi-level car parking and commercial premises in the old motor stand.
