Mahamandaleshwar of the Nirvani Ani Akhara of the Vaishnava sect and mother Tara Ashram of Chitrakoot, Kapil Devdas, the householder Naga, were known as ‘Rabbit Wale Baba’. Rabbits in the ashram roamed around them.
He used to take them along while going out. Due to his love for the living beings, he had been very much discussed in the Magh Mela of Prayagraj. He came to Chitrakoot about 20 years ago and founded the ashram.
There is a wave of mourning in Chitrakoot due to his being a Golokasi. The Sant Samaj says that his sudden departure is an incomplete loss.
He was also the minister of Nirvani Ani Akhara 15 years ago. Mahant Ram Janmandadas of Khaki Arena in Chitrakoot tells that Mahamandaleshwar Kapil Devdas was originally from Fatehpur.
He became a Naga monk of the Vaishnava sect by taking Guru Dhyan from Mahant Ghanshyamdas of Ayodhya Hanumangarhi.
After this he was given the title of Mahamandaleshwar. After this, after coming to Chitrakoot about 20 years ago, he established Maa Tara Ashram at Nayagaon in Madhya Pradesh on Hanuman Dhara Marg.
He has human service with Goseva. His daughter Radhika is Vaishnava Yogacharya. Ram Hriday Das, Mahant of Ramayani Kuti, said that he was a Naga, the householder of the Vaishnava sect.
Mahamandaleshwar was devoted to religion, region and society. His departure has caused irreparable damage. He always thought for saints. Such saints rarely meet.
Mahant Divyajeevan Das, Digambar Akhara was his unique identity in the Chitrakoot Sant Samaj. He used to work as a bridge in Chitrakoot and Ayodhya. His departure has dealt a deep blow to the saint society, which cannot be met.
