Defense Minister Rajnath Singh attended the conference of Indian Ocean Region held in Bangalore on Thursday. The main theme of this conference was to increase peace, security and cooperation in the Indian Ocean this time. Defense ministers of other countries were also involved in this conference.In this conference, Rajnath Singh said that we, along with neighboring countries, have always been committed to building collective maritime capacity and will continue to be so. He said that we strive for maritime assistance of our neighbors.
Rajnath Singh said that India is ready to partner with all its neighbors to meet the challenges in the coming times. The biggest goal right now is to turn our shared dream of development and prosperity into reality.
He said that as far as India is concerned, we are eager to promote maritime security in the Indian Ocean region. The Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard are active for this.
He said that the Indian Ocean region serves as a constant source of resources, particularly in the fields of fisheries, aquaculture, ocean energy, sea-bed mining and minerals. It provides tremendous economic opportunities to develop maritime tourism and shipping activities.
