In these tough times, multiple healthcare professionals have been attacked and violated throughout the country. Taking note of the recent brutal attack of Dr. Seuj senapati in assam. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) addressed a letter to the union home minister Amit Shah demanding to introduce a severe law to protect the well-being of healthcare professionals.

“Doctors and healthcare staff are finding it difficult to work under the stress of violence. Healthcare violence has become an alarming phenomenon across the country . The real size of the problem is largely unknown and recent information shows that the current knowledge is only the tip of the iceberg”, the IMA said.

Dr. Seuj senapati was attacked & physically assaulted by relatives of a descended covid-19 patient who was admitted to Guwahati Medical College Hospital. IMA on Tuesday took an immediate action and wrote a letter insisting the need to bring a more comprehensive, uniform and effective law against the healthcare professionals.

“While the entire medical fraternity stands with you and is working tirelessly during the pandemic , it is also facing a serious threat from healthcare violence. There are many incidences of healthcare violence taking place across the country,” stated the IMA in the letter.
