Morten Boesen, Denmark’s team doctor, acknowledged Christian Eriksen had a heart attack when he fainted on the field against Finland and that “he was gone” before being revived. Medics performed CPR on Eriksen after he slumped face-first onto the turf while racing to take a throw-in during Denmark’s Euro 2020 opener in Copenhagen on Saturday.
According to the Danish Football Association, Eriksen is in a steady state and will remain in the hospital for additional testing. “We got him back after one defib,” Denmark team doctor Boesen stated on Sunday afternoon. “That’s fairly quick… Were we that close? I’m not sure.”
