The Election Commission has announced the assembly elections of five states including West Bengal, Assam, Kerala on Friday. Voting will be held from March 27 to April 29 and voting will be held on May 2. In Bengal, considered politically most sensitive, the Commission has decided to hold elections in eight phases. This election will be the longest election in the state so far. Earlier elections have been held here in seven phases. With this, elections will be held in three phases in Assam. While assembly elections will be held in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Union Territory of Puducherry in one phase only.

Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora announced the assembly elections in four states including Bengal and the Union Territory of Puducherry, assuring that the elections would be completely fair. During this period, the Commission rejected the possibility of holding elections under the supervision of Central Security Forces in states like Bengal and Assam and said that states also have their own role. Central forces are sent only on the demand of the states. In such a situation, it is for the states to decide where to deploy them.

In Bengal, the first phase will be on March 27, the second – April 1, the third – April 6, the fourth – April 10, the fifth phase – April 17, the sixth phase – April 22, the seventh phase – April 26, the eighth phase voting – April 29. Will have to First phase voting in Assam – March 27, second phase voting – April 1 and third phase voting on April 6. Polling will be held in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on 6 April. Counting will be held on May 2 in all states.

Let me tell you that in the meantime, due to the risk of corona infection, precautionary steps have been taken. In which voters will have to apply mask. With this, full security has been ordered in all states.
