COVID-19 cases crosses 15,000-mark; death toll rose to 507 in India

The total number of coronavirus cases in India hikes to 15,708  and the death toll stood at 507 on Sunday, April 19. 1,329 cases and 27 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry stated in its latest update released. The number of Coronavirus cases and the death toll due to the disease is growing rapidly across the country.

The news agency PTI, has reported, that the Drug Controller General has given its nod to a proposal by the Indian Council of Medical Research for the clinical trial of convalescent plasma in COVID-19 patients, in accordance to the protocol by ICMR.

The Drug Controller General of India said ICMR has given a list of institutions, that have shown an interest in the drug trial, to the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation and they may do so in consultation with the health research body.
