The People’s Liberation Army Rocket Force (PLARF) disclosed this week that it is constructing yet another large field of silos from which to deploy intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM). This finding of roughly 110 under-construction subterranean silos in Xinjiang on aerial photographs follows last month’s reveal of a system of 120 silos in landlocked Gansu Province.
The World is concerned about China’s extraordinary military modernization under Chairman Xi Jinping, and the nation is intensifying attempts to expand its nuclear weapons.
This latest silo field, situated close to Hami in eastern Xinjiang, is 380 kilometers northwest of the one at Yumen. Its building is not yet at this mature phase, however, site work that began in March is moving quickly.
