As per a source at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi, a boy who perished there was afflicted with avian influenza. Avian influenza is a disease that mostly occurs in birds such as chickens and turkeys. Although the H5N1 virus does not typically infect people, the human health effects might be severe if it becomes rapidly transmitted from individual to individual.

According to the World Health Organization, the human infection can cause serious sickness and has a high death rate.

When the kid was receiving medication, he was tested for Covid-19 and flu. According to the official, his specimens tested negative for Covid-19 but positive for avian influenza. The National Center for Disease Control has been notified.
