Bharti Airtel and Intel are cooperating on 5G network development using vRAN/O-RAN technology. The cooperation is part of Airtel’s 5G strategy for India, as the company changes its systems to allow consumers to maximize the benefits of a hyperconnected world where Industry 4.0, cloud gaming, and virtual/augmented reality are commonplace.
Airtel would be the first telecom provider in India to showcase 5G on a Network node, and it is now undertaking 5G trials in key cities.
Airtel will use Intel’s newest third-generation Xeon Scalable processor, FPGAs, and ASICs, and Ethernet 800 series across its network to provide the groundwork for large-scale 5G, mobile edge computing, and network slicing deployments.
