Veteran actor Chandrasekhar who is famously known for playing the role of Arya Sumant in the popular TV show Ramayana dies today due to age-related ailments. The actor was 98 years old.
His son Asok Shekhar in an interview with PTI stated, “He passed away in his sleep in the presence of family… the way he wanted. He had no health issues, it was just his age. He lived a good life,” He also quoted that the actor breathed his last around 7 AM in the morning. Sources have informed that the actor’s last rites will be held at Juhu’s Hans crematorium in the evening.
The veteran actor started his career in Bollywood through a leading role with V Shantaram’s Surang in 1954. Later on, he had featured in various other movies such as Cha Cha Cha, Kavi, Mastana, Basant Bahaar, Kaali Topi Laal Rumaal, and Barsaat Ki Raat. In 1987, Chandrashekhar starred as Arya Sumant, King Dasharatha’s prime minister on the Doordarshan TV show Ramayana directed by Ramanand Sagar. This was his prolific success throughout his career.
