After the defeat in the Panchayat elections of Rajasthan, the Congress has made a tremendous comeback in the elections of the Municipal Council and Municipal Council of the state, while the BJP has suffered a major setback.  The Congress was successful in winning the most wards in the elections for urban bodies.  At the same time, independents have been at number two, while BJP has slipped from number one to number three.  The urban area is considered the traditional vote bank of the BJP, even after this, the party has not been able to win the urban elections.  In this way, BJP has lost majority in its thirty bodies.
The results of 1775 wards of 43 municipalities and 7 city councils have been declared in 50 municipalities in 12 districts of Rajasthan.  Congress has won 620 wards, while independents have 595 wards.  BJP has won 548 wards.  Apart from this, 7 seats of BSP, 2 of CPI, 2 of CPI (M) and 1 of RLP have been got.
Let us know that out of these 50 civic elections of Rajasthan in 2015, BJP was able to win in 34 cities, but after 5 years, it has been able to gather its absolute majority in only four places.  Interestingly, there are thirty such bodies in the state, where independents are in important role.  The Congress had presidents in 14 of these 50 urban bodies while in opposition.  Now Congress has got a clear majority in 16.  However, the Congress state president is claiming 40 bodies to be its president.
