Lucknow | The Lucknow Bench of the High Court has taken serious note of the deteriorating law and order situation around girls’ schools in the state capital. The court observed that incidents occurring outside school campuses, particularly during opening and closing hours, are creating safety concerns for students.
The court stated that it has received information indicating that when students of certain girls’ schools are outside the campus, issues related to law and order frequently arise. These circumstances have reportedly led to discomfort and insecurity among students.
Representatives of six schools identified as being responsible for managing such situations were also present before the court. The court specifically mentioned AP Sen Girls PG College located on Station Road in Charbagh while discussing the matter.
During the hearing, it was also informed that incidents of teasing and harassment of girl students from the concerned schools have come to light. Taking note of these allegations, the court directed the state government’s counsel to examine the matter thoroughly and submit complete details at the next hearing.
The High Court passed this order while hearing a public interest litigation filed in 2020 by Gomti River Bank Residents, highlighting public safety and law and order concerns.
