Armed miscreants allegedly looted cash and gold worth around Rs 5 crore from a bank branch in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Monday, according to the police.
The robbery took place at around 2 pm when five to six assailants, wearing face masks, arrived at the bank on motorcycles and entered the premises posing as customers. Shortly after entering, they pulled out firearms and threatened bank employees and customers, triggering panic inside the branch.

Police said the attackers damaged the CCTV cameras installed inside the bank to erase evidence. They then confined those present in the branch before escaping with the cash and gold at around 2.15 pm.
As per the preliminary investigation, the robbers made away with approximately Rs 4 lakh in cash and gold weighing about 3.7 kilograms.
A detailed probe has been launched to identify and arrest the accused, and police teams are examining nearby areas and available evidence to trace the miscreants.
