The police in Mathura carried out coordinated raids in four villages on Thursday as part of a major crackdown on cybercrime networks, leading to the detention of forty two suspects, officials said. Among those held, four individuals were wanted in multiple cyber fraud cases and are currently being interrogated, according to Additional Superintendent of Police Rural Suresh Chandra Rawat. The officer stated that objectionable material was also recovered from their possession.

Rawat explained that the action was taken after persistent complaints from people who reported being deceived through fraudulent phone calls originating from these villages. Using mobile numbers, SIM details, and location tracking, police teams began an early morning search operation. All entry and exit points of the villages were sealed before the raids commenced.

The villages Devseras, Mudseras, Daulatpur, and Nagla Takiya in the Govardhan area have earned notoriety for cyber fraud activities, drawing comparisons to Jamtara in Jharkhand, a region widely known for cybercrime. The large scale operation included four additional superintendents of police, four deputy superintendents, twenty six inspectors, approximately three hundred constables, personnel from the Provincial Armed Constabulary, and cyber cell teams.

Officials suspect that those detained may have connections to broader cybercrime syndicates. Cyber experts are examining data extracted from seized mobile phones, and further legal steps will be taken based on the analysis.
